Taliesin Meets the Vampires reviews “Eternal Vigilance: From Deep Within the Earth”

•June 21, 2009 • Leave a Comment

A nice bit of news graced my inbox this morning in the form of a lovely review of my vampire novel Eternal Vigilance: From Deep Within the Earth, the first book in the Eternal Vigilance series, by the famed vampire website Taliesin Meets the Vampires! Thank you to Andy Boylan for taking the time to review my work! ๐Ÿ™‚ Read below…

Faustโ€™s writing style is richly gothic, but she doesnโ€™t fall into the trap of all too flowery prose, rather she spreads a splendidly velvet web over her story. The story itself encompasses several areas of sci-fi and fantasy blended together; the world Tynan wakes to is best described as post-apocalyptic, the glimpse we get of the Tyst Empire is a cyberpunk society (at least amongst the elite) that has become totalitarian and then we have the spiritual, โ€˜new ageโ€™ rebels who have embraced magic, the Phuree. These disparate societal strands work well together creating a future vision that works… Click here to read the rest of this review on Taliesin Meets the Vampires!

Fabulous news arrived in my inbox this morning from the Vampire Film Festival! They have asked me to be on their Board of Directors for the upcoming festivities in New Orleans! I, of course, happily accepted. The dates for the festival are scheduled for October 23-26 and October 28-30. I will be in New Orleans for the second half of the festival, which coincides with the Anne Rice Vampire Ball, which I am already scheduled to participate in again this year. Rumor has it that the Vampire Film Festival will be bringing in several actors from both the TWILIGHT and NEW MOON movies. I will keep everyone posted as things begin to solidify. Truly, October is going to be a wickedly magical time in New Orleans! More info about the Vampire Film Festival and the Anne Rice Vampire Ball can be found via the below links:

June is proving to be a very exciting month and it’s just around the corner! I will be flying out to Burbank, California for the 2009 Bram Stoker convention and banquet (June 12-15)! On June 11th, beginning at 7pm, I will be participating in the large group signing of horror authors from the Horror Writers Association at the legendary Dark Delicacies bookstore! I have always dreamed of doing a signing at this particular store and look forward to the memorable experience amongst my horror peers. If you are located in California, please help me to spread the word about this unique night!

After returning from California, I will be traveling to Houston, Texas for this year’s Apollocon convention. I will be in the Author’s Row signing & selling from the 26th through the 28th. I believe I will also be speaking on panels that weekend, but as of right now, I have not been told which ones. My publisher Seraphemera Books may also be in attendance, setting up shop in the Dealer’s Room where you will be able to purchase all of the Seraphemera Books titles, etc. If you’re in the Houston area that weekend, please stop by and say hello!

That wraps up June! As always, a full list of the 2009 book tour dates can be found on my website at www.gabriellefaust.com/events.

Beginning this summer, I will be taking over for Christopher Fulbright as head of the Texas chapter of the Horror Writers Association! Please join me today, Saturday, May 9th, from 3pm until 5pm, at Book People in Austin, Texas! Lost Cat Magnet will be playing a short set of their dark experimental electronica music beginning promptly at 3, after which I will be reading from Eternal Vigilance: The Death of Illusions, the second novel in my post-apocalyptic vampire series. I will also be reading a few poems from my new collection Crossroads. Copies of both books will be available for purchase and signing. Updates from the bat cave…

•April 24, 2009 • Leave a Comment

It’s Friday, which for most people means a few short hours until a long relaxing weekend of doing nothing. For yours truly, however, weekends are only a chance for me to become even busier and more productive than I am Monday through Friday! And this weekend is no exception (I say with the greatest of pleasure!).

On Saturday, April 25th, from 1 to 3pm, I will be partaking in the Austin International Poetry Festival by participating in a large group reading at Book People. This, as well as all of the other AIPF events taking place throughout the weekend all over the city, will features several poets of a variety of styles from around the world! This is an extraordinary chance to listen to the work performed by poets you might otherwise not have the opportunity to hear. After the Book People reading, I will be heading over to the Huston-Tillotson University to partake in another group reading from 4 to 6pm. I have never been to the Huston-Tillotson University campus and am looking forward to the experience. These two readings will conclude the April book tour events… Now on to May!

Next weekend, May 1st through the 3rd, I will be heading up to Dallas, Texas for the Texas Frightmare Weekend horror convention! I am very excited about this convention because it is not only one of my favorite horror cons, but this is also the first year that I am attending as a Guest of the convention! I will be signing copies of both ETERNAL VIGILANCE vampire novels throughout the weekend at the Horror Writers Association table in the Dealer’s Room. The HWA will also be hosting a panel on horror literature at 3pm on Sunday, May 3rd so be sure to stick around and come listen! On top of this, I will also be covering the convention as a member of the Press again, obtaining as many interviews and movie screening reviews as possible so be sure to look for those the week following. Texas Frightmare is going to be fantastic this year, with Alice Cooper as the Guest of Honor, so be sure to check it out if you plan on being in the Dallas, Texas area that weekend!

On May 9th at 3pm, I will be returning to Book People in Austin, Texas for an ETERNAL VIGILANCE: THE DEATH OF ILLUSIONS book signing event! Last year’s book signing at Book People for the first novel, FROM DEEP WITHIN THE EARTH, was a phenomenal success. The fabulous band Black Molly played, wine was drunk and a crowd over over 80 people gathered to listen to me read an excerpt from the novel! I feel certain that this year’s signing will be as exceptional as last year’s! Wine, beer and nibblets will be provided (while it lasts) to those who attend. Opening for me will be the dark, bizarre electronica sounds of local band Lost Cat Magnet! This is one event you will not want to miss!

The following weekend, on Saturday, May 16th, I will be signing copies of both ETERNAL VIGILANCE novels at the Austin Dragon’s Lair Comics & Fantasy location on North Burnet Rd. from 1 to 4pm.

So, as you can see, May is quite the book tour whirlwind for yours truly. 2009 has simply flown by, so far, and has been one very exciting year! I can only imagine what is in store for the rest of the year? Do I dare to tempt the Fates? Why, I suppose I do…so long as it’s all good! ๐Ÿ˜‰ And speaking of fabulous developments…

Photobucket

Beginning on Monday, the Vampire Vineyard will be launching the first of two promotional marketing opportunities for the ETERNAL VIGILANCE vampire series! These promotions will each feature one of the first two EV novels, along with two bottles of wine and a special Vampire Wines promotional item, all wrapped up in a sexy gift basket! It doesn’t get more delicious than that! So, be sure to keep your eye out for my postings about these two initial promotions and how you can partake of the offers! The Vampire Vineyard website Wicked Wines will be selling the ETERNAL VIGILANCE vampire series through their online bookstore! I am truly honored and thrilled to be working with the Vampire Vineyards! During a conversation with the CEO of Online Marketing on Thursday, I was asked to also be a contributing columnist for a new vampire website they will be launching later this year. Again, a true honor to be part of this new venture! You can find out more about the Vampire Vineyards and Wicked Wines at www.wickedwinesonline.com and www.vampire.com. Be sure to check back on Monday for more information about the EV promotions and if you would like to be added to the ETERNAL VIGILANCE mailing list please send me an email at mentalwheaties@hotmail.com or subscribe to this website (link at the top of the second column) for instant updates.

Other exciting developments in the ETERNAL VIGILANCE world… I have been working for the past couple of weeks on the screenplay adaptation of the first two ETERNAL VIGILANCE novels and, I must say, I think it’s coming along quite well. Gary Kent is acting a my mentor and guide through the process and will be working with me to find interested directors and investors later on when things really begin shaping up. Right now, I am about a third of the way done with the script and hope to have it near completion by the time I head out to Burbank, California in June for the Bram Stoker Awards Banquet & Conference. During that time I will have the opportunity to pitch the script idea to two different producers. I want to make the most of this rare opportunity so you can count on me practicing my pitch between now and then until it’s flawless! Wish me luck! ๐Ÿ™‚

If you haven’t already checked it out and signed up, I’ve set up a new Group on Facebook (http://www.facebook.com/group.php?gid=107924314376) for ETERNAL VIGILANCE. I’ll be posting regular news about the book, events and other related projects there. There are also message boards and places for you to contribute as well! Please use this group to start discussions, post your videos and pictures from ETERNAL VIGILANCE events, so forth and so on. I am looking forward to seeing what all everyone contributes to the page! Enjoy! ๐Ÿ™‚

This is about all I have to report on at the moment, but I’m sure you’ll agree that it’s enough for now. ๐Ÿ˜‰ I will have more to report on Monday and in the following weeks as other projects I am working on begin to take more shape. Thank you, again, to everyone for their continued support! You know I cannot do it without you!
